Visceral Manipulation for Female Pelvic Disorders 2nd Edition

We are excited to release the second edition of this book!!

DESCRIPTION:
Osteopaths and manual therapists are challenged in their daily practice with patients presenting imbalances of the pelvic region. The reasons for consultation may be linked to functional disorders (urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, infertility), to hormonal physiology (puberty, menstrual cycles, pregnancy, menopause), or even to specific surgical or infectious consequences. The intrapelvic soft tissues are continuously stimulated and mobilized due to respiratory, urinary, genital, and intestinal functions; similarly, the urogenital organs are in constant motion. The role of the osteopath and manual therapist is to help restore the mobility of all intrapelvic soft tissues, in order to ensure good physiology of the pelvic region.

This book focuses on the most common pelvic disorders encountered in clinical practice and provides osteopaths and manual therapists with key treatments to aid with patient care and recovery. The authors present a variety of internal and external pelvic manipulations, including comprehensive soft tissue, neural, and vascular techniques. Also presented in relation to specific urogenital pathologies are the emotional components, social impact, the therapist’s role, as well as indications and contraindications

The Second Edition includes numerous additions and updates. There are several additional pages that have been added with new details and illustrations throughout, including the latest research on biomechanics, endometriosis, and pelvic neuralgia. The pelvic floor now has a chapter unto itself, and there is a whole new chapter on pregnancy with valuable new techniques. In addition to the global release of the uterus, other treatments include techniques for round ligament syndrome, the osteoarticular system, the muscular system, the digestive system, the vascular system, and the autonomic nervous system with the clear images that we have come to appreciate.

This book is meant to be instructional: technique descriptions are reinforced with diagrams and pictures illustrating the manipulations.

Preface:  This book helps therapists to manage delicate urogenital dysfunctions with precision, tact, and efficacy. It is indispensable for clinical therapists whose desire is to aid all patients who are unable to find solutions to their various problems associated with the urogenital system: incontinence, dyspareunia, pudendal neuralgia, infertility, postpartum care, and premenstrual syndrome, to name a few. It has always been a pleasure to share and exchange ideas, and to perfect ourselves for the well-being of all women who can be helped by manual therapy. The concept of osteopathy evaluates the human body in its entirety, whether faced with osteoarticular, visceral, cranial, or emotional disorders. Manual therapy can be very effective for many patients who consult us for troubles associated with the urogenital system. It is our duty, in order to help these patients to the best of our abilities, to possess the knowledge and understand in great depth the anatomy and the physiology of the women we treat.
